What to Expect: Your Path to Healing
Therapy shouldn't feel like another stressful unknown. Here's exactly how we'll work together.
FREE CONSULTATION
Let's See If We're a Good Fit
We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, answer your questions about my approach, and see if we're a good match. No pressure, no commitment—just an honest conversation about how I might support you.
INTAKE SESSION
Gathering Your Story
This is where we dive deeper. I'll ask about your history, current challenges, and what you hope to gain from therapy. We'll also cover practical details like confidentiality and session structure. This sets the foundation for our work together.
FIRST FULL SESSION
Beginning the Work
Now the real work begins. We'll start exploring patterns, building coping strategies, and addressing the issues that matter most to you. Each session builds on the last, creating momentum toward your goals.
ONGOING THERAPY
Building Momentum
As therapy progresses, you'll notice shifts—sometimes subtle, sometimes profound. We'll adjust our approach as needed, celebrate progress, and work through setbacks. This phase is about sustained growth and developing lasting change.

Still Have Questions?
How long does therapy take?
It varies significantly by person and presenting issue. Some clients find meaningful relief in 3–4 months. Others work with me for a year or more for deeper pattern work. We'll check in on your progress regularly and adjust as needed.
Do you take insurance?
I accept most major insurance plans and offer private pay options. Superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of service.
What if I need to cancel?
Life happens. Please give 24 hours notice and there's no charge. Cancellations within 24 hours are subject to the full session fee.
What is EMDR therapy and how does it work?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy developed to help people process traumatic memories and distressing experiences. It works by engaging the brain's natural healing process through bilateral stimulation—typically guided eye movements—while you briefly recall difficult memories. Rather than requiring you to talk through events in detail, EMDR helps your brain reprocess them so they lose their emotional charge. It's recognized by the American Psychological Association (APA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Department of Veterans Affairs as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD.
What's the difference between virtual and in-person sessions?
Both formats offer the same quality of therapeutic work. In-person sessions take place at my San Antonio office and are ideal for clients who value the physical presence of a relational space. Virtual sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform and are available to anyone in Texas. For EMDR specifically, both formats are equally effective—I work with clients on both modalities and will help you determine which suits your needs best.
Is everything I share confidential?
Yes. All sessions are completely confidential and HIPAA compliant. There are limited legal exceptions—including imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, and court-ordered disclosure—which I'll explain clearly in our first session.
